日本最古の観覧車(北海道)
Hakodate Park has a very old Ferris wheel. It is the oldest Ferris wheel in Japan. It has been running for about 70 years.
It was set up in Onuma near Hakodate in 1950, and was moved to Hakodate Park in 1965. It’s probably different from a Ferris wheel that you may imagine. It’s 10 meters high and has only eight gondolas. And each has only two seats. It’s small! In 2019, it was registered as a tangible cultural property of Japan.
Hakodate Park is famous for retro attractions. There is also a retro merry-go-round, a retro swing ride, and so on. You can feel the atmosphere of the Showa Era there.
