Aoshima Shrine in Miyazaki is a popular tourist spot.  The shrine is located in the center of Aoshima.  The entire island is considered part of the shrine.  Visitors can reach it by crossing the Yayoi Bridge.

    This shrine is famous for bringing good luck to couples because it is tied to the well-known myth of “Umisachihiko and Yamasachihiko.”  Yamasachihiko and Princess Toyotama found love in the shrine.

    Visitors will discover many love-related items on the shrine grounds including heart-shaped ema (votive picture tablets) and koimikuji (love fortune).  Travelers are also attracted to the inome and other hidden heart symbols.  The inome is an architectural decoration that resembles a heart shape.
